My standards have dropped with the second child and it doesn’t have to do with cleanliness; I think we were always messy.  With the older one, we forbade toy guns and weapons of any kind. But slowly as he got older, had play-dates with friends whose parents weren’t as strict and as he entered school, our control has waned. The second child pretty much as free rein.  We still don’t get them guns (other than this water gun), but they have Nerf swords and have an arsenal of pick axes, bows and arrows that they have manufactured themselves in the basement.

You can tell that he’s a tough guy.
